Getting there
The closest airport to Overkalix is Lulea, with regular flights throughout all of the seasons. Rovaniemi is just a 2 hour drive away, which makes it a perfect add on to any trip to see Santa too!

Climate
Overkalix has a sub-arctic climate, with significant temperature differences between winter and summer. In July, temperatures regularly climb to 20℃, while in winter you can expect the temperature to drop to -10℃.

Geography
Overkalix, as the name suggests, is located alongside the Kalix River. Rapids and waterfalls create a perfect environment for a summer adventure holiday, and the striking mountains are ideal for downhill skiing through the winter.

Plants and Animals
Jockfall is famous among salmon fishers for it’s 9 meter drop and strong current – here you can watch the salmon as they leap upstream! For animal lovers, the Arctic Moose Farm is a wonderful experience where guests can learn all about the ‘King of the forest’!
