Enjoy the World’s Only Snow Sauna

Snow Sauna

Experience more:

Guests can now experience pure rest and relaxation in the world’s first sauna made from snow, at the Arctic Snow Hotel and Glass Igloos in Finland.

The heart of the sauna, the stove, is cocooned by walls made from snow 1.5 meters thick, the only part of the sauna structure that isn’t made of snow is the wooden slats, which are slotted into the snow walls for guests to relax on. The snow sauna heats up to sauna temperatures and gives a truly unique sauna experience as the snow creates an instant blast of steam, making the health benefits for mind and body the equivalent to a steam room.

The snow saunas are built at the start of the winter season and they melt 3-5 millimeters with each use, as one is exhausted another is used until they have all melted back into the landscape and the process is started all over again. The snow sauna is the latest edition to a suite of amazing snow architecture at the Arctic Snow Hotel which is also made entirely of snow and ice.

The snow sauna is part of a spa suite that offers guests the chance to also sauna in a traditional Finnish wooden sauna, and jacuzzi under the Arctic night sky perfect for hunting for the Northern Lights.

The Arctic Snow Hotel is located less than half an hour away from Rovaniemi city centre in Flinland, yet it is set in a secluded Arctic wonderland next to lake Lehtojarvi.

Day by day itinerary:

Day 1

Arriving into Rovaniemi Airport you will collect your transfer to your first spectacular Arctic accommodation, a glass igloo. That evening you have your first chance to hunt for the Northern Lights, whether that be from the comfort of your bed, or taking a walk through the wilderness away from the lights of the complex.

Day 2

Waking for a traditional Scandinavian breakfast, you have the chance to add a range of Arctic activities to your itinerary from Dogsledding to snowmobiling, or simply soak up the views and tranquillity of the local trails with a walk across pristine arctic tundra. That afternoon it’s time to properly unwind, the Scandinavian way, with a private spa experience. A highlight of this trip, you will experience a traditional Finnish sauna, the world famous snow sauna, and the stunning outdoor hot tub, all of which are guaranteed to relax and rejuvenate. After dinner, there’s another chance to hunt for the aurora, before falling back into your own glass igloo for a second night.

Day 3

Today is all about the ice as you prepare for your final night in the Arctic, and the chance to sleep in a room entirely made of ice and snow. The Snowhotel is rebuilt every year from scratch as it melts into the landscape every summer. With thick walls keeping the rooms at a steady -5 degrees, the Snowhotel offers a special and rather magical, sleeping experience. Before you bed down for the night, take a tour of the rest of the snow hotel rooms and make sure to leave time for a drink in the ice bar before settling in for the night.

Day 4

After your final Swedish breakfast, it’s time to take your transfer back to the airport and your flight home, or speak to our travel advisors to continue your arctic adventure.
