Copenhagen

Access into Denmark is made easy with Copenhagen and it is the perfect spot to be based for a city escape, a stopover before perhaps going further afield in your adventure.

A word from our travel specialist

In Copenhagen, locals bike to Michelin-starred restaurants, castles sit next to cutting-edge architecture, and cafés feel like extensions of your living room. From the colourful townhouses of Nyhavn to the fairytale magic of Tivoli Gardens and the iconic Little Mermaid watching over the harbour, the city blends history, whimsy, and modern edge at every turn.

Here, cycling isn’t just transport, it’s a way of life. The coffee is strong, the pastries are buttery perfection, and the food scene swings from cosy street-side smørrebrød to world-renowned tasting menus. Copenhagen doesn’t try to impress, it just does.

The Guidebook

Explore Copenhagen

Access into Denmark is made easy with Copenhagen and it is the perfect spot to be based for a city escape, a stopover before perhaps going further afield in your adventure. The city is immersed with so much to do and what makes it even better is that it can truly cater to all types of experiences you might be looking to have.

For those who enjoy their food, Copenhagen is host to a wealth of restaurants and includes 23 Michelin Stars which is a truly remarkable achievement that would keep food enthusiasts particularly entertained.

Aside from the food, there is plenty of culture to discover along with some of the brilliant museums such as The Happiness Museum (find out why the Danish are the happiest nation in the world), Designmusuem DanmarkArken Museum of Modern Art, and the National Museum of Denmark – to name a few!

If you are a family wanting to escape for a long weekend then the city can also offer plenty to keep everyone occupied – for a start, there is the city’s famous amusement park Tivoli Gardens which is the second oldest amusement park in the world – the first being Bakken which can also be discovered here. There are some great trips to see the city by bike, boat, or on foot too.

For those that love their Nordic TV shows and films, you can tread in the footsteps of Birgitte Nyborg from Borgen, dance where Mad Mikkelsen saw off Another Round, and marvel at the stunning Øresund Bridge so prominent in many series including The Bridge itself.

Getting There

Copenhagen has access through its main International airport but it is also accessible via ferry or even train if you looking to connect (or head to) further locations such as Sweden or Norway.

The city is made up by metro system, a train line, bus service, and once you are in the city you are able to get to most places by foot or join the rest of the city’s residents by hopping onto a bike!

Climate

With Denmark being surrounded by the ocean its winters are perhaps not as harsh as those of its Nordic neighbours but it still can get quite chilly during the winter months and at times foggy.

In Spring and Summer, the temperatures begin to get much warmer with July being its hottest month, though it is suggested that if you want to take a dip out there then August is the month to do that!
