Destination in detail

Lisbon is the bustling capital of Portugal, famous for its hilly streets, intricately tiled buildings, and the famous custard tart ‘Pasteis de Nata’! The city centre is set back from a wide glittering river, and is majestically overlooked by the remains of the castle walls of Castelo de Sao Jorge. Among the steep cobbled streets, you’ll find a wealth of fantastic restaurants, cafe’s, and bars, along with the cultural hubs of the churches, art galleries and museums. Catch a tram from the city and head to Belém to explore Jerónimos monastery, Belém Tower, and the fascinating Discoveries Monument. Or head in the opposite direction from the city by train and find yourself in the picturesque heart of Sintra; a USESCO world heritage site dotted with grand palaces and regal mansions. There is so much to see and do in Lisbon, so take a few days and truly lose yourself in this historical capital!
