When the summer starts to slip away, the Nordic landscape changes and its golden autumnal colours brighten the landscape, with mirrored forest visas on calm lakes, a different kind of adventure begins to stir. One of crisp mountain air, tranquil waters, cool hikes with stunning views and memorable meals sourced with local products.

Our new “Autumn Auroras in the Nordics” itinerary invites travellers to reconnect with nature, with culture, and with the simple pleasures of good food and great company.

Norway’s Fjordside Magic and Wild Flavours

The journey begins in the beautiful coastal town of Ålesund, on Norway’s rugged west coast. With its Art Nouveau buildings and harbour views, Ålesund offers a serene starting point for the days ahead. Your base is the elegant Hotel Brosundet, where the sea is just outside your window and the scent of salt air greets you each morning.

Guided walks through the town’s charming streets, paired with a hike up Storhornet, provide stunning views of the surrounding archipelago. But it’s the private fjords cruise through Hjørundfjord that truly captures the spirit of the landscape. Surrounded by towering mountains clad in autumn foliage, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a painting. As the air turns cooler and the light softens, you’ll retreat to the cosy luxury of Hotel Storfjord, tucked away in the woods. Evening meals here are a celebration of the region’s natural bounty—think reindeer, root vegetables, and seasonal berries, all sourced locally and prepared with care.

Swedish Warmth and Cinnamon-Scented Culture

From the wilds of Norway, the journey continues to the elegant urban heart of Stockholm. Staying at the stylish Bank Hotel, you’ll be within easy reach of the city’s Old Town, cobbled streets, and waterfront promenades. Here, the air smells of cinnamon buns, roasted coffee, with fallen leaves underfoot.

Stockholm is best explored both on land and water. A scenic ferry through the Stockholm Archipelago reveals a string of charming islands, with a stop in Vaxholm to soak in island life. The cool, clean air invigorates the senses. A hands-on baking class lets you learn the art of crafting authentic Swedish kanelbullar (cinnamon buns)—fresh from the oven, still warm and sticky.

Dinner can be enjoyed in a waterside bistro, taste local char-grilled fish, a mushroom broth, or slow-braised meats, all matched with Swedish craft beer or organic wine. It’s understated, seasonal luxury at its finest.

Copenhagen: Canals, Bikes, and Conscious Cuisine

The final leg of your Nordic adventure brings you to Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital of style and sustainability. Staying at the grand Villa Copenhagen, you’ll be surrounded by a sense of playfulness blended with refined heritage. From here, the city opens up—on two wheels, and by boat.

A private canal cruise offers an intimate view of Copenhagen’s elegant waterfront architecture, while a guided culinary bike tour provides tastes of local life: perhaps a savoury smørrebrød topped with pickled herring, a shot of aquavit, or a flaky Danish pastry enjoyed in a hidden courtyard café. There’s a freshness in the air—of both the food and the environment itself.

Evenings are for indulgence and relaxation, whether at a Michelin-recommended spot or a local favourite that boasts slow food, good conversation, and candlelight. In Copenhagen, every meal feels like an invitation to pause and savour the moment.

A Nordic Symphony of Autumn

This 12-night escape weaves together the essence of autumn in the Nordics: the calm of open water, the vibrancy of urban culture, and the joy of great food. It’s a journey designed not just to take you places, but to immerse you in the atmosphere and rhythm of Scandinavian life. Whether it’s the thrill of catching the early Northern Lights dancing across a crisp night sky or the simple pleasure of sharing a warm cinnamon bun, Autumn Auroras in the Nordics is a celebration of everything this magical season has to offer.
