Your Trip, Your Way

This itinerary is just a starting point—a flavour of what’s possible. Whether you want to tweak the pace, upgrade your hotel, or deepen the culinary immersion, we’ll design your perfect trip from scratch.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Oslo and check into Sommerro House

Your Norwegian journey begins in the stylish capital, Oslo, where contemporary city life meets forests, fjords and minimalist design. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted at the airport for a private transfer to Sommerro House, a beautifully restored 1930s landmark in Oslo’s elegant Frogner district. This art deco hotel combines heritage with comfort, featuring rooftop pools, locally inspired dining and serene spa spaces.

After check-in, the rest of the day is yours to explore the city at your own pace. Wander along the harbourfront and take in the striking angles of the Opera House, or head to the surrounding parks, where golden leaves rustle in the early autumn breeze. Oslo’s galleries, boutique shops and restaurants offer plenty to discover within walking distance.

In the evening, relax with a cocktail in the rooftop bar or sample the seasonal menu at one of Sommerro’s celebrated restaurants. The warm interiors and soft lighting offer a calm welcome to Norway, setting the tone for the slow, luxurious adventure ahead.

Day 2

Explore Oslo and Discover Local Flavours

After a leisurely breakfast, spend the morning diving into Oslo’s cultural scene. The hotel’s concierge can assist with recommendations, whether you prefer to visit the Munch Museum, stroll through the Vigeland Sculpture Park, or enjoy a cruise across the Oslofjord.

Later, a private culinary walking tour introduces you to Norway’s evolving food culture. Led by a local expert, you’ll visit hidden gems and food halls where contemporary Nordic flavours blend with age-old traditions. From pickled vegetables and smoked fish to craft cheeses and micro-brewed aquavit, each stop tells a story of provenance and place.

The afternoon is yours to continue exploring or to relax in the hotel’s rooftop sauna or pool. Oslo in autumn has a calm energy, with fewer visitors and golden light casting a gentle glow across the city.

Your final evening in the capital is a chance to unwind. You may wish to dine in-house or book a table at a local restaurant to try Arctic char, king crab or reindeer with cloudberry sauce.

Day 3

Scenic Train Journey from Oslo to Bergen

After breakfast at Sommerro House, it’s time to experience one of the most beautiful rail journeys in Europe. You’ll depart Oslo on the Bergen Railway, a scenic, seven-hour journey that crosses Norway’s mountainous spine, passing glacial lakes, alpine plateaus and dense pine forests. The landscapes shift from golden autumn woods to dramatic highland tundra, offering a relaxed and cinematic transition between the capital and the coast.

During the journey, there are chances to stretch your legs at stations and enjoy onboard refreshments. The route rises to over 1,200 metres above sea level at Finse, a tiny outpost framed by snowy peaks and vast open skies — a location so remote, it was used to film scenes for Star Wars.

On arrival in Bergen, you’ll be met and privately transferred to the elegant Bergen Børs Hotel, located in a beautifully restored neoclassical building on the historic waterfront. Settle into your deluxe room, then take a short walk to discover Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed wharf with its colourful wooden houses and cobbled lanes. The evening is yours to relax or explore the city’s harbourfront restaurants, known for their seasonal fish, Nordic flavours and candlelit atmosphere.

Day 4

Private Culinary Tour and Mount Fløyen Views

After breakfast at Bergen Børs Hotel, begin your day with a privately guided culinary walking tour. This immersive experience takes you through local markets, independent producers and foodie hideaways, where you’ll taste your way through Bergen’s evolving food culture. Sample smoked meats, regional cheeses and fresh seafood, all while learning how traditional Norwegian cuisine is shaped by the seasons and the sea.

Your walk concludes at the base of Mount Fløyen, where you’ll ride the scenic Fløibanen funicular. At the summit, sweeping views stretch across the harbour, city rooftops and surrounding fjords. There’s time to enjoy a coffee at the mountaintop café or explore gentle forest trails before descending at your own pace.

The afternoon is free for you to enjoy Bergen independently. Browse artisan boutiques in Bryggen, visit the KODE art museums, or relax back at your hotel. In the evening, choose from the city’s excellent dining options, including those recommended by your concierge.

Day 5

Fjord Cruise and Journey on the Flåm Railway

Today’s journey brings you deeper into fjord country. After breakfast, a private transfer takes you from Bergen to Flåm, travelling through mountain passes and peaceful rural scenery. Your main luggage will be transferred directly to your next accommodation for ease of travel.

On arrival in Flåm, you’ll have free time to explore this scenic village nestled at the head of Aurlandsfjord. An optional return journey on the Flåm Railway can be arranged — one of the world’s most scenic rail routes, offering views of cascading waterfalls and dramatic gorges.

In the afternoon, board your private boat for a serene cruise through the fjords, gliding past towering cliffs and golden forests en route to Flesje Gard. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by your hosts and shown to your peaceful suite overlooking the valley. In the evening, enjoy a private three-course dinner made with seasonal and local ingredients. With no distractions but the sound of the river and birdsong, this rural retreat is a highlight of the journey.

Day 6

Vineyard Visit and Wine Tasting by Boat

Wake to the peaceful stillness of the fjord and enjoy a wholesome breakfast at Flesje Gard before setting off for a memorable day combining local stories, slow travel and the surprising world of Norwegian winemaking. Departing directly from the jetty at Flesje, you’ll board a private boat for a scenic cruise across the Sognefjord, heading towards the village of Slinde. This tranquil fjord journey gives you time to soak in the views and appreciate the scale of the landscape from the water.

On arrival, you’ll visit the remarkable Slinde Vineyard, one of Norway’s northernmost wine producers. Here, meet the passionate team behind the project and learn how traditional methods and modern innovation are used to cultivate vines in this challenging climate. The visit includes a tasting session, where you’ll sample a selection of wines and hear fascinating local stories about how winemaking is shaping the culture and economy of this fjordside community.

After a leisurely exploration and tasting, return to your boat for the relaxing cruise back to Flesje Gard. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the calm and simplicity of your surroundings. In the evening, your hosts will prepare a private three-course dinner, served in the farmhouse dining room and made with locally sourced ingredients. It’s a day that captures the flavour, rhythm and heart of the Sognefjord in early autumn.

Day 7

Fly North to Tromsø and Settle into the Lyngen Alps

After breakfast at Flesje Gard, it’s time to head north for the Arctic chapter of your journey. You’ll check out and enjoy a private transfer to Bergen Airport, taking in the last of the fjordland scenery en route. From here, board your flight to Tromsø, often called the gateway to the Arctic. (Please note: flights are not included)

Upon arrival, join a small-group transfer for the scenic journey to the Lyngen Alps, a stunning region where dramatic mountains plunge into glassy fjords. Your destination is the beautifully designed Lyngen Experience Lodge, an intimate retreat nestled at the water’s edge.

After settling into your room, take time to explore the lodge, unwind in the panoramic sauna or simply enjoy the silence and views. A freshly prepared dinner is served in the lodge’s atmospheric dining room, showcasing local, seasonal ingredients. As night falls, head out on your first Northern Lights experience. Whether viewed from the outdoor hot tub, the snow-covered beach or the warmth of the lounge, the Arctic sky often puts on a mesmerising show, with green ribbons of light dancing overhead.

Day 8

Whale Watching, Leisure Time and Aurora Views

Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast at the Lyngen Experience Lodge, enjoying morning light over the fjord and surrounding peaks. Today’s highlight is an unforgettable whale watching experience in the Arctic waters surrounding Lyngen. Depending on the season’s conditions, you may have the chance to see humpback whales, orcas and other marine wildlife, drawn to these rich feeding grounds during their annual migration. Your small group guide will ensure a respectful and informative experience, combining nature observation with insight into the region’s delicate marine ecosystem.

After returning to the lodge, you will be served a delicious lunch with local ingredients before enjoying a relaxed afternoon at your own pace. Perhaps take a walk along the shoreline, read by the fire or simply enjoy the quiet comfort of your room, or enjoy views from the hot tub.

As evening falls, dinner is served in the lodge’s cosy dining space. Afterwards, step outside to watch the skies for signs of the Northern Lights. Whether they appear as a soft green shimmer or a bold dancing display, the setting provides the perfect backdrop for an unhurried and magical Arctic night.

Day 9

Snowshoeing in the Arctic and Leisure at the Lodge

Begin your day with a fresh, locally sourced breakfast at Lyngen Experience Lodge, enjoying the calm of the fjord as the Arctic sun rises slowly across the mountains.

The pace is relaxed today, take a leisurely hike around the area, and along the way, you’ll pause to take in the stillness and appreciate the simplicity of moving quietly through nature. Whether you are drawn to photography or just seeking a mindful outdoor moment, this is a beautifully immersive way to connect with nature.

Return to the lodge in time for a drink and a restful afternoon at leisure. The panoramic lounge, sauna and hot tub are all available to help you unwind, or you may wish to explore the grounds at your own pace.

Dinner is served in the evening, once again crafted from high-quality local produce and reflecting the flavours of northern Norway. If the skies are clear, step outside to watch for the Northern Lights, a final chance to witness their magic from this peaceful fjordside retreat.

Day 10

Travel to Tromsø and Explore the Arctic Capital

After breakfast, it is time to check out of Lyngen Experience Lodge and travel back to Tromsø for your final night in the Arctic. A comfortable small-group transfer will take you along scenic fjord-side roads and across bridges to the city, offering one last chance to take in northern Norway’s natural beauty.

On arrival, check in to Scandic The Dock, Tromsø’s newest waterfront hotel with modern interiors and fantastic harbour views. Its central location makes it a perfect base for exploring the city on foot.

The afternoon is free for sightseeing, souvenir shopping or simply soaking up the relaxed atmosphere of this lively Arctic hub. Stroll through the compact streets, visit the iconic Arctic Cathedral, browse local design boutiques or enjoy a hot chocolate in one of Tromsø’s many cosy cafés.

Dinner this evening is at your leisure. There are plenty of excellent options within walking distance, and we are happy to recommend restaurants based on your preferences — from contemporary Nordic tasting menus to informal bistros serving reindeer stew, Arctic char or locally brewed beer.

As your journey begins to wind down, this final evening is the perfect time to reflect on your adventure through Norway’s fjords, forests and Arctic skies.

Day 11

Departure from Tromsø

After breakfast at Scandic The Dock, it’s time to prepare for your departure. A private transfer will take you from the hotel to Tromsø Airport, where you’ll begin your journey home after an unforgettable eleven days exploring Norway’s autumn landscapes.

From Oslo’s cultural charm and Bergen’s historic waterfront to the stillness of the fjords and the wonder of the Arctic skies, you will leave with vivid memories of dramatic scenery, fresh local cuisine and peaceful, meaningful experiences.
