Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Copenhagen

Your Scandinavian summer begins with arrival at Copenhagen Airport. A pre arranged private transfer will be waiting to take your family directly to the city centre and the magnificent Villa Copenhagen, a landmark hotel offering modern comfort within historic architecture. After checking into your connecting rooms, take some time to explore the property’s exciting features, including the rooftop pool, perfect for unwinding after your journey.

The rest of the day is yours to settle in and explore the neighbourhood at your own pace, perhaps enjoying a stroll to the nearby harbour. Dinner is at your leisure tonight, giving you the flexibility to choose a family friendly option close to the hotel, or enjoy one of the hotel’s excellent on site dining spots.

Day 2

City Sightseeing and Storytelling

Today your family will embark on a half day private city tour designed specifically with young children in mind. Your guide will incorporate interactive storytelling and fun landmarks, starting at City Hall Square where you can meet the statue of Hans Christian Andersen.

The journey continues to the King’s Garden for children to stretch their legs near Rosenborg Castle, before a pause for a well earned Danish ice cream or waffles near the colourful canals of Nyhavn. The tour concludes near the famous Little Mermaid statue, leaving the afternoon free for family adventure. Dinner is at your leisure this evening.

Day 3

A Day at Tivoli

Enjoy breakfast before heading out for a full day of excitement at Tivoli Gardens, thanks to your included day tickets. This world famous amusement park, located right in the heart of Copenhagen, is one of the world’s oldest and most magical, offering beautifully landscaped gardens, thrilling rides, and plenty of entertainment for all ages.

Spend the day enjoying the vintage carousels, the enchanting lights, and the wide array of family friendly attractions. You can choose from numerous restaurants and casual eateries within the park for dinner this evening, or venture out to a favourite spot in the city centre.

Day 4

Transfer to Bornholm

A private transfer will collect your family from Villa Copenhagen and take you to Copenhagen Airport for your short flight to the Danish island of Bornholm, affectionately known as the sunshine island. The flight is not included but we recommend a mid afternoon departure to maximise your day. Upon arrival in Bornholm, you will collect your pre-arranged rental car, a Nissan Qashai or similar, suitable for the family luggage and local exploration. You will then enjoy a scenic thirty minute drive to Stammershalle Badehotel on the north coast, a historic and elegant seaside retreat.

Check into your beautiful suite and spend the evening relaxing after your travel day, perhaps walking by the rugged coastline. Dinner is at your leisure this evening.

Day 5

Exploring Bornholm at Leisure

Begin your first full day on Bornholm where the entire day is yours to spend at leisure, exploring the island’s many family friendly attractions using your rental car. Bornholm is an ideal destination for outdoor adventures and cultural experiences. Consider driving to Dueodde Beach, known for its soft white sand and shallow waters perfect for young children.

Alternatively, explore the historic Hammershus Castle Ruins, Denmark’s largest medieval fortress, which offers spectacular sea views and a glimpse into the island’s past. For a fun natural experience, you could seek out Rokkestenen, a large balancing boulder. Dinner tonight is at your leisure.

Day 6

Island Nature and Treats

Enjoy another day of self directed exploration across this charming island. You might focus on nature today, perhaps visiting the Troll Forest for a magical walk or exploring Almindingen Nature Park, which offers easy hiking trails and the chance to spot European bison. For a creative afternoon, try the interactive pottery experiences at Hjorths Fabrik or step back in time at the Bornholm Medieval Centre.

Be sure to indulge in some of the island’s famous local treats; homemade ice cream in Gudhjem is a must, or you could sample the fresh seafood from one of the classic smokehouses. Dinner is at your leisure this evening.

Day 7

Island Play and Seaside Relaxation

Make the most of your seaside location. If the children enjoy animals, a visit to Brændesgårdshaven, a farm park with playgrounds and a water area, or the Butterfly Park in Nexø would be a delightful option. Alternatively, take a gentle drive along the scenic coastal routes, stopping at charming villages and enjoying the relaxed pace of island life.

You have the flexibility to return to the beautiful facilities of Stammershalle Badehotel whenever you wish, perhaps enjoying the sea air from your suite’s French balcony. Dinner is again at your leisure this evening.

Day 8

Final Day in Bornholm

Enjoy your final leisurely breakfast at the hotel, soaking up the tranquil atmosphere and sea views. This extra day on Bornholm allows the family to revisit a favourite spot or explore a quieter corner of the island before the next chapter of your Scandinavian journey. Perhaps take a short ride on the vintage railway in Nexø, or spend the morning relaxing on the beach.

You have the rental car at your disposal to maximise your time until the evening. We suggest taking an early evening dinner at a local spot to prepare for tomorrow’s transfer to Sweden.

Day 9

Bornholm to Stockholm

Today you are checking out of Stammershalle Badehotel. Drive your rental car to Bornholm Airport for your flight to Stockholm, Sweden. The flight is not included and should be arranged for a convenient time. Upon arrival at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN), a private transfer will be waiting to take you directly to the legendary Grand Hotel in the city centre. Check into your luxurious connecting accommodation, which features a superior suite and a deluxe room, both offering harbour views.

You will have the rest of the day and evening at leisure to settle in and enjoy the hotel’s prestigious facilities and prime waterfront location. Dinner is at your own arrangement this evening.

Day 10

Family Fun at Skansen

This morning, you will take part in a private guided family tour of Stockholm, designed to keep younger travellers engaged. The tour takes you through the historic charm of Gamla Stan, past the majestic Royal Palace, and along the bustling waterfront, offering stunning views. The journey concludes at Skansen, the world’s oldest open air museum, where you can spend the rest of the day.

Here, Swedish history comes to life with traditional houses, costumed guides, and a charming zoo featuring Nordic animals like moose and lynxes, providing the perfect blend of education and entertainment. Dinner is at your leisure.

Day 11

Swedish Candy Cane Making

Today you will be participating in a fun and interactive activity: a private candy cane making class. Held in the charming Gamla Stans Polkagriskokeri in the Old Town, you will learn the art of crafting traditional Swedish polkagrisar, or candy canes. Under the guidance of a professional candy maker, you will mix, roll, twist, and shape your own sweet treats, a truly memorable family experience.

You will get to take home the delicious handmade sweets you have crafted. The afternoon and evening are free for you to continue exploring Stockholm, perhaps visiting the Vasa Museum or the Junibacken children’s museum. Dinner is at your leisure tonight.

Day 12

Archipelagic Drive to Marholmen

A private transfer will take you from the city to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) to collect your next rental car, which will be a large family car or a Mercedes V Class to ensure comfort and space for everyone. After collecting your vehicle, you will enjoy a scenic drive of approximately one hour to Marholmen, a beautiful island retreat in the Roslagen archipelago.

Check into your spacious Ekbacken Villa, situated near the water with the oak forest as your neighbour. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the island’s facilities, including the playground and jetties. Dinner is at your leisure this evening.

Day 13

Campfire Cooking

Today is dedicated to exploring the natural surroundings and enjoying a traditional outdoor experience. You have the whole island at your disposal, with nature trails ideal for family walks and activities like cycling or beach volleyball readily available. For lunch, you will enjoy a unique local tradition: the Kolbullekasse.

This is a pre packed kit with firewood, batter, pork, and lingonberry jam, providing everything you need to cook a delicious traditional Swedish pancake over an open fire at one of the island’s barbecue spots. This is a historical and highly appreciated activity for all ages. Dinner is at your leisure.

Day 14

Private Archipelago Boat Tour

Today prepare for the highlight of your archipelagic stay: a full day private boat tour. Accompanied by a local guide, you will travel through the stunning outer Stockholm archipelago on a comfortable enclosed or open motorboat. Your tailor made tour allows you to explore peaceful retreats like Grinda, known for its lush forests and quiet coves, or the lively sailing heritage of Sandhamn.

The experience includes a delicious lunch and dinner served on board or at a scenic stop, giving you the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and natural beauty. You will enjoy swimming and exploring hidden beaches along the way.

Today is a full day for you to relax and enjoy the island life before your departure. You can take advantage of the island’s many activities, perhaps trying kayaking or canoeing on the calm waters, or trying some family fishing.
