As evening approaches, enjoy dinner at leisure in one of the town’s welcoming restaurants, where local ingredients and Arctic flavours often feature prominently on the menu. During the height of summer, the Midnight Sun bathes the landscape in a soft golden glow throughout the night, creating a magical backdrop for your first evening in Svalbard.

Day 2

Arctic Landscapes and Wilderness Stories

Today introduces you to the remarkable landscapes and heritage of Svalbard. After breakfast, set out on a private ATV safari through the Advent Valley. Travelling across rugged Arctic terrain, you will pass historic mining sites, sweeping tundra landscapes and panoramic viewpoints overlooking Isfjorden. Along the way, there may be opportunities to spot reindeer, Arctic foxes and a variety of birdlife.

Following some free time in Longyearbyen, continue with a private guided sightseeing tour that reveals the fascinating story of Svalbard. Learn about the island’s mining heritage, scientific research stations and unique position within the Arctic, while visiting landmarks including the famous Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

After returning to town, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at leisure. You may wish to visit the excellent Svalbard Museum, where engaging exhibits explore the region’s history, wildlife and scientific importance.

Later in the day, head out on a private walrus safari by boat. Crossing Isfjorden, your guide will take you to areas where walrus colonies gather along remote beaches and islands. Designed for quiet and environmentally conscious travel, the vessel allows for exceptional wildlife viewing while minimising disturbance to the natural surroundings.

Sailing towards Billefjorden and the impressive Nordenskiöld Glacier, you will pass rugged coastlines, historic sites and vast expanses of Arctic wilderness. The silent electric propulsion enables close encounters with nature, creating excellent opportunities to observe seabirds and other wildlife.

As you cruise through this stunning environment, enjoy spectacular views from panoramic decks and comfortable lounges. A warm lunch is served on board while your guide shares insights into the landscapes and history of the region.

Returning to Longyearbyen later in the day, enjoy a final evening in Svalbard, perhaps celebrating the extraordinary experiences and wildlife encounters of the past few days.
