Emanuel and Josefine are a soon-to-be-married local couple who live in the forest close to Arctic Retreat. Josefine serves as the hotel manager, ensuring every aspect of your stay is seamless, while Emanuel, the head chef, crafts exquisite meals that highlight local flavours.

Day 2

Huskies, Forest Trails and Dinner with a Local Family

Wake to the quiet stillness of the surrounding forest and begin the day with a relaxed breakfast at Arctic Retreat.

This morning you head into the forest for a guided husky walk with local hosts Anne and Andi. Travelling alongside these energetic and friendly dogs offers a unique way to experience the wilderness. The pace is calm and immersive, allowing you to enjoy the scents of pine forest, the sounds of nature and the deep connection between guide, dog and landscape.

A light lunch is served outdoors, surrounded by the natural beauty of the region.

In the afternoon, return to Arctic Retreat for a deeply relaxing massage treatment with Cicci, a local therapist whose work blends traditional knowledge with holistic wellbeing practices.

Later, enjoy time to unwind in the sauna or relax in the outdoor hot tub.

In the evening, you are welcomed into the home of Mogens and his family for dinner. Sitting around the family table, enjoy homemade dishes and warm conversation while learning about everyday life in northern Sweden. This intimate experience offers a genuine glimpse into local culture and hospitality.

Anne and Andi are a lovely Swiss-German couple and the closest neighbours to Arctic Retreat, just minutes down the road. They offer guided husky walks through the forest—an immersive, peaceful experience connecting you with nature, the dogs, and the quiet rhythm of the land.

Dinner with a local: Sit down with Mogens, his wife Lena, and their children for an authentic glimpse into local Swedish life. Join them at their family dinner table, enjoy homemade food, and hear personal stories about everyday life in the north.

Cicci: Cecilia ”Cicci” Andersson lives in the nearby village and practices Ayurveda and Siddha treatments. Her work is inspired by her own rehabilitation journeys to India, where she immersed herself in these ancient healing traditions. Today, she offers a truly unique and deeply personal product that draws on her deep knowledge of the Arctic.

Day 3

Arctic Flavours, Farm Life and Traditional Wellness

After breakfast, set out with cultural guide Eva Gunnare for an outdoor flavour walk through the surrounding landscape. Eva shares her deep knowledge of Arctic plants, herbs and edible ingredients, introducing guests to the seasonal abundance found in Lapland’s forests and meadows.

The experience blends storytelling, tasting and cultural insight, revealing how the land has shaped local food traditions for generations.

Later, travel to a nearby Arctic farm where Suzanne and Micke welcome you for lunch. Walk through the farm landscape, meet the animals and learn about rural life in this northern community before gathering around the fire for a relaxed and hearty meal made from seasonal ingredients.

In the afternoon, return to Arctic Retreat for an Ayurvedic wellness treatment with Cicci. Inspired by ancient healing traditions, this calming therapy provides balance and restoration after your active morning.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at a gentle pace. Relax in the sauna, soak in the outdoor hot tub or simply sit beside the river and absorb the stillness of the Arctic environment.

Dinner this evening is a three course meal at Arctic Retreat featuring local ingredients and northern flavours.

Suzanne and Micke: Micke and Suzanne welcome you to their small Arctic farm to share stories of village life and farming in the north. Walk the land with their sheep, meet the chickens, and gather around the fire for a cozy homemade meal while learning about everyday life in the Arctic.

Eva Gunnare: Eva Gunnare is a cultural guide and food creator with a passion for wild, local flavors. Through tasting experiences, guided food walks, herbal courses, and events, she shares personal knowledge of Lapland’s nature, culture, and seasonal green abundance.

Day 4

Blacksmithing and Swedish Culinary Traditions

Begin the morning with breakfast before taking part in a hands on cultural experience that celebrates traditional craftsmanship.

Today you will meet local blacksmiths Emilia and Adam, who guide you through a fascinating workshop exploring the ancient craft of blacksmithing. Working with fire and iron, you will learn the techniques used to shape metal by hand, transforming raw materials into something lasting. The experience offers insight into a craft that has long played an important role in northern communities.

Later in the day, step into Swedish culinary tradition with a cooking or baking class led by Cicci. Using local ingredients and traditional methods, you will learn recipes and techniques passed down through generations.

This relaxed and engaging session offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with Swedish culture through food and shared creativity.

The afternoon remains flexible, allowing time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Arctic Retreat. Guests may choose to cycle forest paths, paddle along the river by canoe or simply relax with sauna and hot tub rituals.

In the evening, enjoy a final three course dinner celebrating the flavours of Swedish Lapland.

Day 5

Departure from Arctic Sweden

Enjoy a final breakfast at Arctic Retreat while taking in the quiet beauty of the surrounding forest.

After breakfast, your private transfer will return you to Luleå Airport for your onward journey.

You depart with lasting memories of northern landscapes, meaningful cultural encounters and the restorative calm of life in Arctic Sweden.
