Day by Day Itinerary
Arrival and Northern Lights at the Sky Station
Arrive in Kiruna, where your private transfer will carry you north into the heart of Arctic winter. Settle into your cosy private house in Abisko—your base for the coming nights.
This evening, ascend 900 metres by chairlift to the renowned Aurora Sky Station. Here, you’ll enjoy a gourmet Nordic dinner paired with panoramic views over Lake Torneträsk. As darkness falls, step outside with your guide to witness the aurora in one of the clearest skies on Earth.
Snowmobiling Across the Arctic
After a leisurely breakfast in your fully stocked kitchen, gear up for a private snowmobile adventure through Abisko’s untouched wilderness. Cruise across frozen lakes and along snowy forest trails, stopping to warm up by the fire with hot drinks. Return for an afternoon of relaxation—perhaps in the sauna or simply watching the snow fall. In the evening, head out on your next private aurora hunt, guided by local expertise.
Snowshoeing and Ice Fishing
Today, strap on snowshoes for a guided walk onto the frozen expanse of Lake Torneträsk. Learn the traditional art of ice fishing, with a chance to fry your catch over a crackling campfire.
After lunch and time to unwind, your guide will collect you for another aurora search, tailored to the weather and aurora forecasts.
Fjords and Arctic Vistas
This morning, set off on a spectacular cross-border journey to Narvik, Norway. Wind through mountain passes and fjords before descending to the Ofotfjord coast. Explore Narvik’s WWII heritage or ride the cable car for panoramic views of the Arctic landscape. Return to Abisko in the late afternoon, ready for one final night of aurora chasing.
ICEHOTEL Immersion
After breakfast, transfer to the iconic ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi—where art and Arctic adventure meet. Check into your Art Suite, a sculpted masterpiece of ice and snow. Lunch and time to explore are followed by an optional 5-course dinner served on ice. Tonight, you’ll sleep wrapped in thermal bedding, embraced by the surreal beauty of frozen design.
Farewell Lapland
Wake to a warming breakfast before checking out. Your private transfer returns you to Kiruna Airport for your onward journey—your memory card full, your spirit recharged, and the Northern Lights etched forever in your mind.

From Our Customers
Off the Map Travel was great! Alex helped us plan the most amazing 10 day honeymoon to Iceland. He gave us great recommendations and was so patient with us during the planning process!
I would thoroughly recommend this company. Their planning and advice was spot on. Alex responded to my calls and emails very promptly. I will definitely use them again for future trips.
The best travel experience ever on every level you can think of during a Lapland expedition (food, activities, timings, accommodation, transport, service, equipment…). I highly recommend Off The Map Travel for their outstanding level of professionalism and detail oriented mindset!
I used OTMT to organise a holiday to see the Northern Lights for my partner’s 50th birthday. They took the time to understand my priorities, the kinds of places we like to stay and the things we like to do. They recommended a fabulous itinerary in Norway centred around the Lyngen Experience Lodge. The holiday itself lived up to expectations and I have no hesitation in recommending OTMT. They listened carefully during the planning and delivered the perfect present for my partner.
We originally hired Off the Map Travel in 2020 to set up a trip to see the Northern Lights. That didn’t happen, thanks to COVID. But, we persisted and in March of 2023, we took a 16-day trip that included both Iceland and Norway. IT WAS MAGICAL! Off the Map took care of everything! We were pampered at every stage of our trip. The people they hired and the activities they planned added up to a trip that will set the standard for any we’ll ever take in the future. Alex and his team were fabulous! We recommend them without restraint!
Amy was a great help with planning this trip. Our trip turned out amazing. I also was very grateful for Off the Map’s Front Desk service, which promptly handled an on the spot issue we had.
