Whether we realise it or not, most of us have a bucket list of some sort. You might not have written it down, but we’ve all spent time day dreaming about where we’d run off to if only the time and circumstances would permit.

A recent survey on the behalf of Off The Map Travel revealed that two-thirds of respondents admitted to having a bucket list, but only a third of those had actually put pen to paper and written it out. One thing we did find is that although the specific contents of each bucket list varied widely, almost all of them included at least one ‘dream travel destination’ – and many included multiple!

Our own Jonny Cooper had this to say:

“It’s said that experiences are the only thing that your pay for that make you richer; and the only sure-fire way to kick-start your road to achieving your dream experiences is to understand what they are in the first place. Whether it’s a trip to see the Northern Lights, a whale watching adventure or a luxury adventure holiday, we love helping our guests make their travel dreams a reality.”

Is A Northern Lights Holiday On Your Bucket List?

The survey also suggested that a small group (around 7%) of those who write a bucket list are constantly tweaking them, with experiences being added and removed on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. On the other hand, 80% of respondents who wrote down their list have not looked at it in the last year – and over half of them haven’t reviewed it in over three years.

Although pen and paper still comes out on top as the preferred method of keeping a bucket list, the rise of the digital age and social media has meant that now 17% keep their list on a digital device like their smartphone, while only 2% are using Facebook and 2% Pinterest for the task. When we asked Jonny again, he commented that:

“We regularly get guests calling us up saying that a Northern lights holiday is something they have always dreamt of, and it is always such a pleasure to make that dream come true.”

The Northern Lights And Much More…

One of the great things about a trip to see the Aurora Borealis is that many of our destinations also offer other exciting activities. Take Iceland, for example; you can spend your nights floating in the Secret Lagoon while the Northern Lights dance above your head. During the daytime, sail out to one of Iceland’s many coasts and take part in another common bucket list activity – whale watching.

Because our holidays are tailor made, we can make sure that you get the very most out of your trip; with our help, you’ll be able to check off multiple things from your bucket list at once. The pages below are a great place to start exploring all of the core types of holiday that we can offer:
