Off the Map Travel have teamed up with the Northern Lights adventurers, The Aurora Addicts, to offer a new Arctic experience for 2015 chasing the Northern Lights across the Arctic Circle in Norway.

This new Northern Lights holiday, has not only opened up a new and exciting way to chase the Aurora across Lapland, but has also created a chance for guests to visit the region from September, much earlier in the season, perfect for those wanting to travel during the milder Autumn temperatures.

The Aurora Addicts are a family of six who are addicted to the Northern Lights. After seven years of hunting the Northern Lights on holidays to Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Norway, Chris, Becki and their four children undertook the ultimate Northern Lights pilgrimage taking their 7m long motorhome for five months chasing the Aurora across Lapland.

Off the Map Travel has since teamed up with the Aurora Addicts to give guests the chance to also experience the thrill of the chase and join experienced Aurora hunter Chris on a quest to find, and be moved by, this incredible natural light show.

Jonny Cooper, Director of Off the Map Travel and Northern Lights travel expert, said;

“Chris, Becki and their family are just amazing and have such a great story to tell. Not only that, they have also honed their skills in reading both the Aurora and weather patterns to predict the best spot to experience the Aurora. Once they have the coordinates – the chase is on.”

Surrounded by spectacular mountains, fjords and islands, guests will be based in Sortland from which they will enjoy a true Arctic experience. With a warm and comfortable fjordside cabin, days can be spent exploring, and in the evening it’s time to hunt for the Northern Lights with an Aurora Chase.

Chris Nation, owner of Aurora Addicts and Aurora hunter, said;

“We are located in a perfect position for Aurora hunting as if the weather is poor at the coast we can head inland and into the fjords and mountains; if it is best near the sea we can go to one of our many favourite spots on the coast; and if the weather is bad everywhere we can head up the mountains and try to beat the clouds. North or south there are many more options. For us there is nothing more exciting than ‘feeding the addiction’ with a chase for the best Northern Lights show we can find!”

The Aurora Addicts experience is available on selected dates from September to March where you are likely to visit the areas of Lofoten, Andenes, Sortland, Melbu, Storkmarknes, Harstad, Lødingen, Kvaefjord, Gullesfjord, Nyksund and Bø in Norway.

Jonny Cooper of Off the Map Travel continues;

“As well as the highlight of chasing the Northern Lights, our guests will also have the chance to join a dog sledding adventure; meet the Sami people; visit a local reindeer farm; go hiking; visit Spaceship Aurora; visit Lofoten Circle or go to the small fishing villages of Langoya & Nyksund. We’re so glad to be working with Chris and the team to offer this incredible new opportunity for 2015.”

A five night Aurora Addicts experience with Off the Map Travel costs from £1699 per person based on two people sharing excluding flights. This includes transfers; modern fjordside cabin for your stay on a half board basis, a Sami Reindeer experience, a visit to the Lofoten Islands, a Spaceship Aurora Experience, and of course plenty of Aurora hunting with Chris.
