A word from our travel specialist

I’m from Iceland myself and spent my childhood summers camping everywhere, and I mean everywhere.

There’s something magical about how the landscape changes with the light, and no two days are ever the same. Iceland’s landscape is full of surprising contrasts, you can bathe in a warm river, hike on a glacier and watch the midnight sun all in one day. Iceland has this raw, wild energy that pulls you in. In my opinion it’s the best place on earth to disconnect and soak in nature, and I love sharing that feeling with others.

Endless Possibilities Await

Straddling the mid-Atlantic ridge, Iceland is very geologically active which in turn creates some of the most striking scenery in the world.

The magnificence of the island is not just limited to the scenery. Wildlife such as whales can be spotted off the coast, Puffins make their visits in the Summer months, and in the West fjords, you might spot arctic fox – making it the perfect destination for nature lovers.

Adventure & Culture

Iceland is an adventurer’s playground – there are so many activities that one can take part in throughout the year – you really are spoilt for choice. You could chase the Northern Lights in a specially designed super jeep, witness the natural wonders on offer such as waterfalls, geysers, and volcanoes, set sail on a silent carbon-neutral whale watching trip, or even snorkel in the crystal clear waters between two continents!

And if that all sounds far too exhausting then you are also in one of the best countries in the world for high-quality luxury spas; perfect for relaxing after a busy day!

Unique Stays

Not all the Icelandic hotels are unique like their Nordic counterparts but sometimes it is all about what you might be able to see out the window – it is not too often you get to spend the night with a giant sleeping volcano-like Katla looking over you or be on a secluded beach overlooking a church and the most stunning views from the Snaefelsnes Peninsula.

Our selection of luxury holidays in Iceland include a number of great city hotels, are some of our Nordic Experience Curators’ top picks – but also key properties to stay in when heading out on the road and discovering this most beautiful and fascinating country.
