The deep forests of Finland and Sweden are among the best places in Europe to see large land mammals in their natural environment. Moose, the largest members of the deer family, roam freely through boreal woodland and lake regions. Observing a moose in the wild is a powerful experience, as these solitary animals move silently through dense forest and open clearings.
Reindeer are central to life in the north and are particularly associated with Lapland in both Finland and Sweden.
