Luxury Holidays to Finland

A word from our travel specialist
I started off in Helsinki, which immediately impressed me. It’s a capital city, but it doesn’t feel hectic at all. Great public transport, clean streets, and a really strong design culture everywhere you look—from architecture to shop interiors. I spent a couple of days wandering through local markets, stopping at cafés and working my way through numerous cinnamon buns!
After that, I headed north to Wilderness Hotel Inari in Lapland, and that’s where Finland really stood out. The hotel is right on a frozen lake, surrounded by forest—it’s quiet, remote, and feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere (in a good way). I stayed in a cabin with huge windows overlooking the lake. Days were filled with activities like dog sledding, snowshoeing, and learning about Sámi culture. Nights were spent in the sauna, watching for the Northern Lights which were spectacular.
What I loved most was the pace. There’s no rush here. If you’re looking for somewhere calm, clean, and full of nature without the crowds, it’s hard to beat.

Endless Possibilities Await
The vast expanse of pristine forest and crystal clear lakes punctuated by small towns and villages offer guests the perfect base for a Finland Northern Lights holiday or for a summer getaway.
Summer brings the chance to explore and swim in Finland’s many waterways such as the majestic Lake Paijanne; whilst the winter brings husky dog sledding and reindeer tours and Aurora hunting to the Arctic north.
Places To Explore In Finland
From Arctic wilderness and glass igloos to sleek city streets and serene lakes, our curated Finnish escapes are just the start of what’s possible.

Adventure & Culture
Finland – particularly in the North – is a destination that is usually associated only with its Santa trips and reindeer excursions – but that isn’t everything that this incredible country has to offer! During the Summer months you can experience the Midnight Sun and explore the landscape with activities such as as the Nightless Night Hike or darting down a river with some rafting adventures.
The winter time offers even more activities than ‘just’ Santa; think dog sledding, snowmobiling, Sami Culture – the options are endless! Our Nordic Experience Curators have selected some of their top picks to take part in when visiting Finnish Lapland below.

The best travel experience ever on every level you can think of during a Lapland expedition (food, activities, timings, accommodation, transport, service, equipment…). I highly recommend Off The Map Travel for their outstanding level of professionalism and detail oriented mindset!
Off the Map Travel was great! Alex helped us plan the most amazing 10 day honeymoon to Iceland. He gave us great recommendations and was so patient with us during the planning process!
I used OTMT to organise a holiday to see the Northern Lights for my partner’s 50th birthday. They took the time to understand my priorities, the kinds of places we like to stay and the things we like to do. They recommended a fabulous itinerary in Norway centred around the Lyngen Experience Lodge. The holiday itself lived up to expectations and I have no hesitation in recommending OTMT. They listened carefully during the planning and delivered the perfect present for my partner.
Amy was a great help with planning this trip. Our trip turned out amazing. I also was very grateful for Off the Map’s Front Desk service, which promptly handled an on the spot issue we had.
I would thoroughly recommend this company. Their planning and advice was spot on. Alex responded to my calls and emails very promptly. I will definitely use them again for future trips.
We originally hired Off the Map Travel in 2020 to set up a trip to see the Northern Lights. That didn’t happen, thanks to COVID. But, we persisted and in March of 2023, we took a 16-day trip that included both Iceland and Norway. IT WAS MAGICAL! Off the Map took care of everything! We were pampered at every stage of our trip. The people they hired and the activities they planned added up to a trip that will set the standard for any we’ll ever take in the future. Alex and his team were fabulous! We recommend them without restraint!
