Sweden’s ICEHOTEL is a world-famous venue that stands as the first of its kind. At first glance it looks spectacular. Inside the ICEHOTEL you will find there’s much more than just a pretty appearance. It also features its own chapel and bar. You will be hard-pressed to find a more unique wedding venue than when you tie the knot surrounded by snow-clad walls and artistically carved ice furnishings.

A One-of-a-Kind Winter Wedding

Located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, the ICEHOTEL is a luxury that can only be enjoyed for a few months of each year. The whole ICEHOTEL is carved from solid blocks of ice that are extracted from the nearby Torne River. Each spring the hotel harvests ice from the frozen river and stores it for production for the hotel later in the year. The ice is used to create the icebar designs and ice sculptures that the ICEHOTEL is famous for – even the glasses are crafted ice. The structure itself is crafted from densely compacted snow that is compressed to create strong walls and ceilings.

This yearly production cycle is what makes the ICEHOTEL so special. By rebuilding the hotel and its rooms every year, they can redesigned with new themes and sculptures. Currently on its 26th rendition, this year’s iteration includes 19 individually themed and hand-crafted art suites whose designs have been chosen from over 100 submissions by prestigious artists from across the world. With all this in mind, it is little wonder that the ICEHOTEL is such a popular wedding destination, especially since it is also in the perfect position to experience Sweden’s fantastic view of the Northern Lights.
